A typical system would have the wired connection Ethernet on eth0 and the wireless on wlan0. Of course someone smart could get Ubuntu to work but I’m lazy and don’t see a need to struggle with Ubuntu when Sabayon and Puppy work perfectly out of the box with my particular hardware. What is the router being used? Would this card be faster? You should also have your kernel headers installed too.

Assuming that wlan0 is the wireless device This will tell us if you are able to see any access points including yours. Would this card be faster? Does anybody know of faster “BG” cards?????????
If you find both devices, then it means the necessary driver is already there. I’m talking about leaving the “consumer” level, and moving to a cheap, enterprise, WAP from Ubiquiti.
Getting them to work is fairly simple once you know what card you have. Cheap, fast, embedded chips are made for GigE connections these days, unlike older routers. These things are amazing and can have very long range in areas that don’t have interference.

I have installed in a virtual disc in a macbook pro and it’s really nice. In addition, does anybody know if the linux driver would drive the card, if I bought one???? Dell is very linux friendly and I have installed Debian on 5 laptops so far and currently own layitude inspiron and a latitude D, wireless with both work better under linux than with windows! I think every body who depend on the computer have a really good reason to choose linux.
Also, I’d avoid the “nub” wifi USB adapters.
